Rwanda Muzo Washed

Muzo Nemba Hill is a unique coffee initiative that began in 2019, focusing on traceability and collaboration with Rwandan coffee producers. Emmanuel, the driving force behind this project, introduced the idea of tracing coffee back to specific hills near his washing stations, a rarity in East African coffee. This initiative benefits buyers and producers by fostering closer connections and motivating growers with fair pay and recognition. Nemba Hill, one of the project's additions, reveals distinct flavours reminiscent of Yirgacheffe coffees. Emmanuel's goal for the Nemba Hill group is to highlight the high-quality potential of coffee grown in this region, characterized by its high altitude and intense flavour profile. The following are the 10 farmers involved in this group: Camile Misago, Cassien Nizeyimana, Isaac Biringiyiki, Innocent Dukuzumuremyi, Obed Habarurema, Juvenal Munyarugero, Cassien Naberaho, Issa Nirworushako, Joel Ubayimfura, and Ismael Tuyambaze. Washed processing at Muzo involves rigorous cherry sorting, double fermentation, extensive grading, soaking, and shaded drying, resulting in high-quality coffee with unique flavour profiles.
