Finca El Palto, owned by David Ojeda and located in Ihuamaca, San Ignacio, Cajamarca, started as a one-hectare project after David sold jungle land to return home. Now 3.5 hectares, the farm is more than a source of income—it’s a family-centered way of life built on hard work and a commitment to producing high-quality coffee.The farm follows careful, traditional processing: hand-harvesting only the ripest cherries, fermenting for roughly 30 hours in bags and sacks, washing in a vat tank, and drying in specialized modules or bubble tents for 15–20 days to bring out the beans’ flavors. David uses sustainable practices—predominantly machete weeding—and relies on his family for all stages of production. He plans to expand varieties to boost yield and quality and to support his family’s future through education and complementary enterprises such as cattle and poultry farming.
