Burundi Gakenke Washed

The Washed Burundi Gakenke coffee originates from the scenic Gatara Commune in Kayanza Province, where it is cultivated by a dedicated collective of smallholder farmers, numbering around 1,900 members. Nestled at an elevation of 1,672 meters, the coffee plants thrive in the region’s rich volcanic soil and favorable climate. This particular coffee is of the Red Bourbon variety, renowned for its distinct, rich flavor profile. The cherries undergo a meticulous washed processing method at the Gakenke Washing Station, which enhances their clean and vibrant characteristics. This careful approach highlights the commitment of the local farming community to producing high-quality coffee, reflecting the unique terroir of Burundi.
