ABOUT SOL DE LA MAÑANA
The Sol de la Mañana initiative was established in 2014 when 10 local producers approached Pedro Pablo for help. Pedro Rodriguez recognized that their responsibility extended beyond managing their own farms—they also needed to support the producers who had been supplying them with coffee for many years. After extensive discussions, the Rodríguez family concluded that the key to helping producers and reversing the country’s declining coffee production was finding a way to increase average yields. To achieve a livable income from coffee production, Bolivian farmers needed to produce around 30 bags of coffee per hectare. In response, the Rodríguez family decided to create a curriculum designed to address this issue directly, providing producers with the skills and training necessary to boost yields and improve the quality of their coffee.

ABOUT TAIPIPLAYA
In Taypiplaya, Agricafé collaborates with 10 families who follow the Sol de la Mañana model, working on small farms typically around 2 hectares in size. The coffee lot from this area is a blend of over 20 families' contributions. Coffee is one of the region's primary crops, cultivated by smallholder farmers who blend traditional practices with modern agronomic techniques. The coffees from Taypiplaya are renowned for their sweet and fruity profiles, bright acidity, and juicy body. Beyond coffee, the region also produces a variety of other crops, including citrus fruits, bananas, cassava, cacao, and vegetables. These agricultural activities play a vital role in supporting the local economy and are deeply woven into the community's daily life and culture.

Taypiplaya is a picturesque community located in the Yungas region of northern La Paz, Bolivia, sitting at an altitude of 1,200 to 1,800 meters above sea level. The area benefits from a humid tropical climate, with warm days and cool nights— conditions that are ideal for cultivating high-quality coffee. The landscape is truly breathtaking, featuring rolling hills covered in lush vegetation, crystal-clear rivers winding through the valleys, and a rich biodiversity that reflects the transition from the Andes to the Bolivian Amazon. Surrounded by cloud forests and fertile soils, Taypiplaya is perfectly suited for agriculture, making it an ideal location for farming and coffee production.
