ABOUT Kiandu and FCS
This coffee lot comes from a dedicated group of smallholder farmers who are part of the Mutheka Farmers Cooperative Society (FCS). These growers bring their cherries to the Kiandu Coffee Factory, located in Kenya’s famous Nyeri County near Tetu.

Founded in 2004 after the split of the Giant Tetu Coffee Growers Co-Operative Society, Mutheka FCS sits between the majestic Aberdare Ranges and Mt. Kenya. The cooperative oversees seven factories, serving around 6,000 small-scale farmers who nurture their coffee trees alongside staple crops like maize, beans, and sweet potatoes. Kiandu Factory, one of the largest in the Mutheka network, proudly supports nearly 1,900 registered members. While Kenya is home to many coffee factories, only a select few actively process coffee each year, making Mutheka FCS’s work all the more vital to the community.
